As a descendant of Vikings and Celts from heroic days of old, Inis (that's me!) is proud to raise the purest strain of sheep straight from the longboats of the Vikings themselves...The Icelandic Sheep Breed (which she has grown up alongside and shepherded since early childhood). When it comes to all things SHEEP (and Icelandic in general), Inis has had the honor and privilege of learning at the feet of the very best teachers...the Icelandic sheep farmers themselves. Every year she has made her "pilgrimage" to Iceland to work in the lambing season and beyond on farms with 500 to as many as 800 animals (mostly ewes!). Her work on both sheep and dairy farms has brought her in contact with the most knowledgeable individuals, who have graciously passed on some of their immense knowledge to her in regards to the characteristics of this unique breed, the best qualities to look for, the best techniques for assisting in birth, color genetics and patterns and so much more! Their time and patience, and what's more, willingness to share what they know has not only enriched her knowledge and skill as a shepherd of this beloved breed, but also deepened her love for the common heritage she shares with the animals she raises! It is a love that runs deeper than the deep blue sea surrounding this jewel of an island, faster and stronger than the highest waterfalls (and she's seen quite a few!) and more deeply rooted and immovable than the fierce determination and stubbornness of the unique Icelandic Leadersheep (Forystufé) (which she has also raised!) And it has given her the greatest gift of all...that of friendship, both human and animal!

On Inis´s homestead, she believes in smaller, more manageable herds where a greater emphasis can be placed on the overall health and well-being of the animals. With a smaller flock, Inis´s sheep are able to grow faster and healthier on rich, organic mountain pastures. Inis also believes in maintaining the all-natural (holistic) health of her flock as much as possible, and keeps them on a weekly worm-free program using tried and true Molly´s Herbals: https://mollysherbals.com/
along with mineral supplements and dried, powdered seaweed straight from Iceland (the sheep absolutely ADORE it!)

(Inis also uses Molly's Herbals for her dog and other homestead critters. When using natural de-wormers, there is a very noticeable difference in the hair/wool qualities of the animals...Inis has noticed her sheep develop much softer, suppler wool when using non-chemical treatments, and many people have commented on her dog's softer, sleeker coat compared to many other neighboring dogs.)

Inis specializes in purebred, unregistered Icelandic stock with the finest qualities and standards of the breed!
